Translation of Khutba (Friday October 26 2012)
Assalam Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakathuhu
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem.
All praise be to Allah SWT, He who sees and hears all and despite the wrongs of man, is the most loving, most merciful and thus most forgiving, and peace and blessing be upon Muhammad SAW, the prophet and messenger of Allah.

Allah Sobhanahowataala says in the Qur’an in Surah Yunus:
“Then We made you successors after them, generations after generations in the land, that We might see how you would do.” (S.10 V.14)
What are behind the Event of Sacrifice from The wisdom and facts

Message 1
Dear Brothers all of you know the story of Ibrahim's sacrifice and we say that it was a test by Allah (ta'ala). Ibrahim was to be tried once more. Ibrahim had a vision in which he was commanded by Allah to slaughter his only son.
Brothers and Sisters, why should Ibrahim, whose entire life was devoted خَصَّصَ to prophethood, to Jihad, to removing ignorance, to establish وَطَدَ the foundations of tawheed be tried once again?
Is it because man should not rest?
Is it because man should not be deceive مَوْهُوم by 100 years of Jihad and victories?
Is it because he should not think of himself without weakness?
Is it for the fact that whatever we fix our eyes upon in this world will blind us?
And finally, is it because the higher the spiritual height we reach, the greater is the danger of falling?

Brothers and Sisters, it is not possible to convey in words what it must have meant for Ibrahim to be commanded by Allah (ta'ala) to sacrifice his son Ismail. The magnitude of the pain does not allow the imagination to enclose أَحَاطَ بِـ it. It inspires اِسْتَحَثَّ fear and trembling اِرْتِجاج. How can Ibrahim take his beloved son, the fruit of his life, the joy اِبْتِهَاج of his heart, the meaning of his living and staying, his Ismail, and hold him on the ground, put a knife to his throat and kill him?
It would be easy If it were only the slaughter of Ibrahim at the hand of Ismail, But no! The young Ismail must die and the old and aged Ibrahim must remain! Inside Ibrahim a kind of fight have been started, the greatest jihad. Which fight? The fight between Allah and Ismail! The difficulty of choice! Who should Ibrahim choose? Love of Allah or Love of self? Prophethood or fatherhood? Loyalty ِطَاعَة to Allah or loyalty to family? Faith or Emotion? Truth or Reality? Consciousness or Instinct? Responsibility or Pleasure? Duty or Right? Tawheed (Monotheism) or Shirk (Polytheism)? Advancing or Remaining? To Become or To Be? And finally, Allah or Ismail? What should Ibrahim choose?

Brothers and Sisters, Ibrahim did not choose immediately. He doubted and wavered under the crushing force of pain and only after the third vision he finally decided to carry out Allah's command. This is reflected in the hajj ritual of stoning رَجْم the three idols representing Iblis who tempted أَغْوَى Ibrahim to disobey Allah. Like Us, When a `truth' enhances earthly life, most people become seekers of truth. But when a truth opposes life and leads to problems, loss and dangers the seekers of truth are few in number. Iblis works wherever he finds traces أَثَرٌ of fear, weakness, doubt, despair إِحْباط, envy غَبْط selfishness حُبُّ الذَّات and even great affection towards someone or something. Iblis sometimes force logical reasons, intellectual and religious justifications تَبْرِيرto achieve his ends. For instance we may imagine that, under the powerful crush of his pain and distress, Ibrahim could have used many justifications. Perhaps the meaning of dhebh (slaughter) is just metaphorical مَجَازِيّ and means kill your `ego'. Perhaps `Ismail' might be a general noun and not Ibrahim's son. Perhaps “slaughter Ismail” actually means “slaughter the love of Ismail”. Ibrahim could have also tried many interpretations of his vision. But Ibrahim, khalil-ul-Allah, the intimate friend of Allah, had faith in Allah and he knew that Allah (ta'ala) demanded the sacrifice. Ibrahim's conscience إِرَادَة would make a mockery اِسْتِهْزاء of all these logical justifications and reasons. Ibrahim chose the Love of Allah over the Love of self, Prophethood over Fatherhood, Loyalty to Allah over Loyalty to family, Truth over Reality, Consciousness over Instinct, Responsibility over Pleasure, Duty over Right, Tawheed over Shirk. He preferred Advancing to Remaining. Ibrahim chose Allah and gave up Ismail.

Brothers and Sisters, in Mina, an amazing and frightening رَهِيب conversation between a father and a son took place. Ibrahim said to Ismail (in the Qur’an in Surah Saffat):
“…’O my Son, I see in a vision that I offer you in sacrifice. Now see what is your view ?”…” (S.37 V.102)
What frightening رَهِيب words for a child to hear! Ismail could have kept silent. He could have asked Ibrahim to refrain تَرَفَّعَ عَنْ or stop talking. But Ismail had also faith. He submitted to Allah's will. Realizing his father's distress, Ismail gave him these comforting words (in the Qur’an in Surah Saffat):
“…’O my father ! Do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah so wills, patient and constant.’” (S.37 V.102)
Ibrahim had consulted his son who offered himself to Allah's command. The choice of Ibrahim was sacrifice. That of Ismail was self-sacrifice: Martyrdom اِسْتِشْهاد. This gave Ibrahim strength. Ibrahim tied his heart to Allah, he took the Ismail of his life in one hand and the knife of his faith in the other and he walked until he reached the place of sacrifice. Ibrahim was suffering while believing and at every moment it was possible for him to retract and turn back. Yet he layed Ismail on the ground, putting his face away from him to give strength to his crushed soul and paralyzed hand. And so he slaughtered Ismail. But, by Allah's grace, the knife did not cut.
Ibrahim received a sheep and was called by Allah (in the Qur’an in Surah Saffat):
“…‘O Ibrahim ! ’” “You have confirmed the Vision Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.” “This is indeed the manifest trial!” (S.37 V.104--106)

The facts and Wisdom
Brothers and Sisters, Ibrahim gained everything and kept Ismail. This means that Load of Ibrahim is not thirsty for blood like the Inca’s gods or Hindu’s gods were thirsty of blood. It is the people, the servants of Allah who are hungry, and hungry of sheep meat. And, symbolically, the only blood shed in this story is the blood of Iblis. The story means that from beginning Allah did not want Ismail to be slaughtered. He wanted Ibrahim to be the slaughterer of Ismail. When he became so, the slaughter became useless. Allah, from the beginning, wanted Ismail to be the slaughter of Allah. And when it happened, his sacrifice became useless. Mankind has needs but Allah has no needs. He is Self-Sufficient. Allah (ta`ala) in His Wisdom raised Ibrahim to the highest peak of sacrificing Ismail without sacrificing Ismail. Allah (ta`ala) promoted Ismail to the highest peak of being the great sacrifice of Allah without bringing any harm to him. It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allâh, but it is piety from you that reaches Him. Thus have We made them subject to you that you may magnify Allâh for His Guidance to you. And give glad tidings to the Muhsinûn (doers of good). This event is not about the torment عَذَاب of mankind but about the perfection كَمَال of humanity, the freedom from the prison of instinct ِ غَرِيزَة and selfishness and about the elevation of spirit. This important event also teaches us, through Ibrahim, that human life, Ismail's, Ibrahim's, everyone's, acquires its meaning and value from Allah-The Source of Creation-and not from nature.

Brothers and Sisters, different people organize differently their loyalty to Allah, to the family and to the nation or the state. A secular mind owes and absolute duty to the nation (and the family) whereas a religious conscience owes absolute duty to Allah. For a secular mind Ibrahim was willing to MURDER Ismail but for a religious conscience he was willing to SACRIFICE Ismail. Ibrahim therefore instructs that we should owe absolute duty only to Allah and it is our relationship to Allah which ought to exceed and determine out relation to family/nation and not vice-versa. The Ismail of Ibrahim was his son. But you, who is your Ismail? What is it? Is it Your degree ? Your reputation? Your position? Your money? Your home? Your car? Your beloved? Your family? Your knowledge? Your title? Your dress? Your fame? Your soul? Your spirituality? Your Beauty? Your strength? Your career? These are the signs of our Ismail's. Let us search for them in ourselves and let us slaughter them to move towards Allah (ta'ala). Let us revolt تَمَرُّد against the heartless worshippers that we have become. Finally, when you remember Eid Aladha remember that it is not a Eid of victory. It is the Eid of sacrifice (adha).

Message No2
The message of Islam is about helping all people, relieving suffering, spreading goodness and removing harm. We are supposed to do good things in a good way and not resort to counteracting evil with evil.
Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah Fussilat:
“The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel the evil with one which is better…” (S.41 V.34)
Sahl ibn Sa`d reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be like this in Paradise,” and he gestured with his index and middle fingers. (Al-Bukhari).
Do you think you will be resurrected in the company of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and all the other prophets – Jesus, Moses, Abrahim, David, Soloman, Elias, Adam (peace be upon them all) – if you just sit back and watch the world keeping a nice comfortable emotional distance, without striving to fulfill the trust Allah gave us? Paradise doesn't come cheap. We have to work for it. Simply calling ourselves Muslims is not a guaranteed ticket to Paradise! If all it takes is giving some money, urging others to give, helping out in our own communities and so on, well then that's a start. What does it mean to help an orphan? Well it could mean Paradise.

O Allah! Forgive all our sins
O Allah! Accept us for Your service and for the Service of Islam and Muslims
O Allah! Give us strength of Iman
O Allah! Accept all of us Dawah worker in Japan
O Allah! Guide all the people in Japan and all over the world to Islam
O Allah! Give rizq in abundance to all Muslims in Japan
O Allah! Give shifa to those who are sick
O Allah! Grant safety and security in Japan and all over the world Aamin ya Rabbil Aalamn
